Ringworm is not Caused by Worms

Ringworm is a kind of skin disease which will affect different parts of your body. By the name ring worm, you need not think it is caused by some worm. Ringworm is caused by some type of fungus called dermatophytes. Ringworm affects the following parts of the body:-
  • Scalp
  • Face
  • Chin
  • Chest/Stomach
  • Hands
  • Nails of Hands and Legs
  • Groin
  • Feet
Ringworm disease is contagious and it spreads in many ways, including body touch and through your pet animals. Ringworms are normally treated by anti-fungal creams and it is not a dangerous disease.

You may prevent Ringworm in the following ways:-
1.Do not share the following:-
  • Shirts
  • Pants
  • Sports wear
  • Sports accessories
  • Towels
  • Hankies
  • Napkins
  • Slippers/Chappals.
2.Take Care of the following:-
  • Wear slippers/Sandals in Toilets
  • Shampoo and Shower after Sports Activities
  • Wear Loose fitting Cotton clothing
  • Change Socks and Underwears daily
  • Keep your skin clean and dry after baths
  • Take your pet animal to the Veterinary Doctor if you notice any patches or missing hair
