The 1st and the 2nd Presidents of India- (The 1st Person) From 26th January 1950/13th May 1952 To 13th May 1962-
Dr. (Babu)Rajendra Prasad (1884-1963)
India became a "Republic Country" on 26th January 1950, after becoming Independent on 15th August 1947.
Dr. Rajendra Prasad took charge as the President of Independent and Republic India on 26th January 1950, being selected by the Committee of Indian Constitution.
However the First General Elections and the First Presidential Election were held in the year 1952 after completion of all formalities for the complete implementation of the Constitution of India as a "Republic" country.
Dr.Rajendra Prasad was the President of India from 26th January 1950 to 12th May 1962, for two consecutive terms being the First and the Second President of India.
In the Third Presidential election in the year 1962, Dr.Rajendra Prasad expressed his decision to retire from public life and declined the offer to continue as the Third President of India.
Dr.Rajendra Prasad was born in Jiradei, in the Siwan district of Bihar on 3rd December 1884 and he died on 28th February 1963.
The 3rd President of India (The 2nd Person) -From 13th May 1962 To 13th May 1967
-Dr.Sarvapalle Radhakrishanan / Dr.S.Radhakrishnan (1888-1975)
Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was the Third President of India (The Second Person) from 13th May 1962 to 12th May 1967.
Dr.Radhakrishnan was was born on 5th September 1888 at Tiruthani, near Chennai, Tamilnadu and he died on 17th April 1975.
Dr.S.Radhakrishnan was the First and the Second Vice President of India from 1952 to 1962.
According to his wish, his birthday the 5th Sepetember is celebrated as the "Teachers'Day" in India.
The 4th President of India (The 3rd Person) -From 13th May 1967 to 3rd May 1969-
Dr.Zakir Hussain (1897-1969)
Dr.Zakir Hussain was the Fouth President of India (The Third Person) from 13th May 1967 to 3rd May 1969.
Dr.Hussain was the first Muslim to be the President of India. He was born at Hyderabad on 8th February 1897 and died on 3rd May 1969, during his tenure.
The First Temporary President of India From 20th July 1969 to 21st August 1969-
Justice Mohd.Hidaytullah (1905-1992)
Justice Mohd. Hidayatullah was the first Acting President of India for a short time, subsequent to the death of the 4th President of India, Dr.Zakir Hussain, from 20th Jully 1969 to 21st August 1969.
Justice Hidayatullah was born on 17th December 1905 and he died on 18th September 1992.
Justice Hidayatullah had been the Chief Justice of India from 1968-70 and the Vice President of India from 1977 to 1982.
The 5th President of India (The 4th Person) From 24th August 1969 to 23rd August 1974-
Mr.V.V.Giri (1894-1980)
Mr.Varahagiri Venkatagiri / V.V.Giri was the Fifth President of India (The Fourth Person) from 24th August 1969 to 23rd August 1974
.
He was born at Berhampore, Orissa on 10th August 1894. Mr.V.V.Giri passed away in the year 1980.
The 6th President of India ( The 5th Person) From 24th August 1974 to 11th February 1977-
Dr.Fakrudeen Ali Ahmed (1905-1977)
Dr.Fakrudeen Ali Ahmed was the Sixth President of India (The Fifth Person) from 24 August 1974 to 11 February 1977.
He was the Second Muslim to be the President of India. He died during his tenure as President of India on 11th February 1977.
Dr.Fakrudeen Ali Ahmed was born on 13th May 1905 and he died on 11th February 1977.
The Second Temporary President of India from 11th February 1977 to 25th July 1977-
/Mr. Basappa Danappa Jatti/Mr.B.D.Jatti (1913-2002)
Mr.B.D.Jatti was the second Temporary President of India, subsequent to the death of the 6th President of India, Dr.Fakrudeen Ali Ahmed, from 11th February 1977 to 24th July 1977, till the 7th President of India Mr.Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy took charge.
Mr.B.D.Jatti was born on 10th September 1913 and he died on 8th June 2002>
The 7th President of India (The 6th Person) from 25th July 1977 to 24th July 1982-
Mr.Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy (1913-1996)
Mr. Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy was the Seventh President of India (The Sixth Person), from 25th July 1977 to 24th July 1982. He was born in Anantpur District, Andhraprashesh, on 19th May 1913 and he died on 1st June 1996.
The 8th President of India (The 7th Person) from 25th July 1982 to 24th July 1987-
Giani Zail Singh (1916-1994)
Mr.Giani Zail Singh was the Eighth President of India (The Seventh Person) from 25th July 1982 to 24th July 1987.
He was born in a village at Faridkot, Punjab on 5th May 1916 and he died on 25th December 1994.
The 9th President of India ( The 8th Person) from 25th July 1987 to 24th July 1992-
Mr.R.Venkataraman (1910-2009)
Mr.R.Venkataraman was the Ninth President of India (The Eighth Person) from 25th July 1987 to 24th July 1992.
He was born on 4th December 1910 in Thanjavur District, Tamilnadu and he died on 27th January 2009 at the age of 98 years.
The 10th President of India ( The 9th Person) from 25th July 1992 to 24th July 1997-
Dr.Shanker Dayal Sharma (1918-1999)
Dr.Shanker Dayal Sharma was the Tenth President of India (The Ninth Person ) from 25th July 1992 to 25th July 1997. He was born on 19th August 1918 and died on 26th December 1999.
The 11th President of India (The 10th Person) from 25th July 1997 to 24th July 2002-
Mr.K.R.Narayanan ( 1920-2005)
Mr.K.R.Narayan was the Eleventh President of India (The Tenth Person) from 25th July 1997 to 24th July 2002.
He was born in Kottayam District, Kerala on 27th October 1920 and he died on 9th November 2005.
Mr.Narayanan is the first and the only person from a "Dalit" Community who occupied the highest office in India.
The 12th President of India (The 11th Person) from 25th July 2002 to 24th July 2007-
Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam
Dr. A.P.J. Adbul Kalam was the Twelfth President of India (The Eleventh Person) from 24th July 2002 to 25th July 2007.
He was born on 15th October 1931 in Rameswarm, Tamilnadu. He is an Atomic Engineer of Anna University Chennai and he is the only non-political President of India, unanimously accepted as the "First Citizen of India".
Dr.Kalam declined the offers to contest in the 13th and the 14th Presidential elections, as he was ready to be the First Citizen of India, in case he was either elected unanimously or in case of his undoubtfull winning the election.
Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam expired on 27th July 2015, while he was giving a lecture to the students at Rajiv Gandhai Institute of Management (IIM, Shillong) (Shilong- the Capital of Meghalaya)
The 13th President of India (The 12th Person) from 25th July 2007 to 24th July 2012-
Mrs.Prathiba Dev Singh Patil
Mrs.Pratibha Dev Singh Patil was the Thirteenth President of India (The Twelfth Person ) from 25th July 2007 to 24th July 2012.
Mrs.Prathibha Patil is the first and the only Lady President of India, till date. She was born on 19th December 1934 in Nadgaon, Maharashtra.
The Present and The 14th President of India ( The 13th Person) from 25th July 2012-
Mr.Pranab Mukherjee
Mr.Pranab Mukherjee has taken charge as the Fourteenth President of India (The Thirteenth Person) on 25th July 2012, after winning the 14th Presidential election as the official nominee of the ruling UPA Government, defeating the opposition candidate, the ex- speaker of the Lokh Sabha, Mr.P.A.Sangma.
Mr. Pranab Mukherjee is said to be the 14th President by some people and as the 13th President by some others.
Some people think that he is said to be the 14th President as the number "13" is treated as unlucky.
