The following is a List of Finance Ministers of Independent India From  the Year 1947 Till Date:

Mr.R. K. Shanmukham Chetty, from the Indian National Congress was the First Finance Minister of Independent India, from 15th  August 1947 to 1949, when Jawaharlal Nehru was the Prime Minister of India.

Mr.P. Chidambaram,  from the Tamil Maanila Congress/United Front was the 21st Finance Minister of India from 1st June 1996 to 21st April 1997, when H. D.  Deve Gowda, was the Prime Minister of India.
