AR Rahman-the first Asian to bag the Golden Globe Award for Music

AR RAHMAN

The Man of Music of India Mr AR Rahman returned to Chennai after receiving the “Golden Globe Award” for his score 'Jai Ho' in "Slumdog Millionaire". At Chennai Airport on 15th January 2009, Rahman was received by  by a happy crowd of his fans with traditional drum beats and classical dance. 

AR Rahman has become the first Indian/Asian to receive this “Golden Globe Award”. He expressed his happiness for receiving this award for Indians and he told that he took everyday in his music life as a challenge and worked and however, he did not aim for the award and he dedicated the same to the people of India.

AR Rahman composed music for the rags-to-riches romance of a Mumbai slum boy. The film which fetched the award to Rahman  also bagged three more Golden Globe honours for:-

  • best drama
  • best director
  • best screenwriter.

His fans are hopefully waiting to see AR Rahman bagging “Oscar Award” for his Music at the earliest.
