Mr.M.K.Stalin elevated as Deputy Chief Minister of Tamilnadu

Mr.M.K.Stalin has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamilnadu by the Chief Minister Mr.M.Karunanidhi. Mr. Stalin has been looking after the Rural Development and Local Adminstraion. He will be in charge of the portfolios of Industry, General Administration, District Revenue Officers and Minority Welfare which were hitherto under the Chief Minister Mr.M.Karunanidhi in addition to Rural Development and Local Administration.

Mr. Stalin is also the head of the Youth Wing of the party DMK.
He had been the Mayor of Chennai from 1996 to 2001 and he is known for his organizational and administrative skills.

It is notable that this elevation of Mr.Stalin has taken place immediately after his elder brother Mr.M.K.Azhagiri has been sworn in as a Cabinet Minister in Dr.Manmohan Singh’s cabinet of UDA Government supported and participated by DMK.
