It is very rare for elephants to give birth to twins.
‘Alka’- a Female Elephant in the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park’ in Orang at 150 kms from Guwahati in Assam, India has a made a new record by giving birth to twin calves (both females) on 16th December 2010, in her fifth delivery.
The newly born twin female elephant-calves have a five years old sister staying near them.
The Forest Officials have made the necessary arrangements for:-
