The First Presidential Elections in India was held in 1952.  5 persons contested and Dr.Rajendra Prasad won and Became the First President of India.

( It is notable that Dr.Rajendra Prasad took office as the First President of India on 26th January 1950, the day on which India became Republic. However, the first Presidential Election was held in the year 1952. Dr.Rajendra Prasad contested the First Presidential Election and won and took office as the first elected President of  India on 13th May 1952).

The Fourteenth Presidential Elections in India is conducted in the year 2012. The following are the 2 contestants:

• P.A.Sangma (Former Lokh Sabha Speaker)- Independent

The Total Value of Votes by the elected M.P.’s  of both the Houses of the Parliament of India (Rajya Sabha and the Lokh Sabha)& the elected M.L.A.’s of the States are 10 98 882.

For winning the election 50% of the total value of votes – 5 49 441 are to be received.
