Will India's Chess Grand Master Viswanathan Anand become 'Bharat Ratna'?

India’s Chess Grand Master Viswanathan Anand defeated his Challenger Boris Gelfand of Israel in a Match held at Moscow on 30th May 2012 and retained his World Chess Championship ,undisputed since 2007.
 
Anand and Boris played 12 Games and they won in 6 each and they had  a Rapid- Tie-Breaker held in 4 rounds. Anand won in the second round and drew in the first and the last two and got 2.5 points against Boris’s 1.5 points.

With this win at Moscow, Anand has won his 5th Chess World Championship and the 4th in a row. 

As Anand will hold the World Chess Crown until the year 2014 he would be the World Chess Champion for 7 years consecutively from 2007. And if the 2 years from the year 2000 to 2002 are included Anand would be the World Chess Champion for a cumulative period of 9 years.
 
Anand is the First Chess Player  to win World Championships in the following 3 different formats: Knock Out, (Match) Tournament and  Match.

For his achievements in Chess Viswanathan Anand has received many Titles and Awards  including the following Indian National Awards :
  • India’ Award for Outstanding Sportsmen -Arjuna Award ,
  • India’s Fouth Civilian Award- Padmashri in 1987,
  • India’s Award for Outstanding Sportsmen Estabilshed in the year 1991-Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 1991- being the first Recipient of the Award,
  • India’s Third Highest Civilian Award-Padma Bhushan in 2000 and 
  • India’s Second Highest Civilian Award-Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
After the recent victory in  World Chess Championship by Viswanathan Anand  the State Government of Tamilnadu has announced a Cash Award of Rs 2 Crores. 


Will the Central Government of India confer India’s highest Civilian Award the ‘Bharat Ratna’ to Viswanathan Anand ?

This is totally ridiculous. Encouraging a player is much appreciated but rewarding them with 2 Crore is something very not acceptable.
Many people in India is without food and there is numerous hikes in petrol and in many basic amenities. This money should have be been used for various others uses and not definitely this one.
