Dark Chocolate prevents Coronary Artery Disease

Sunday, October 5, 2008

Chronic inflammation in the Coronary Arteries will lead to heart disease. To prevent Coronary Artery Disease, inflammation must be kept under control. Persons having a low amount of C-reactive protein in their blood have lower levels of inflammation.

A recent Italian research has shown that eating a very small piece of dark chocolate, about 6.7 grams/0.23 ounces, daily will be good to CAD patients. People who eat dark chocolate regularly, in small servings, have significantly lower levels of C reactive protein.

The dark chocolate will significantly reduce the inflammation that leads to cardiovascular disease. However, milk- chocolate does not appear to offer the same benefits.

A piece of dark chocolate a day keeps the doctor away!
